Afternoon World Cup Player Notes (Sep 5)

We are still waiting to see how the lines will shape up for Team Europe, but the news on goaltender Frederik Andersen wasn't very good, as he was in Toronto getting checked out by Leaf doctors this weekend.  The Leafs management announced that he will be 3-to-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, which is believed to be a shoulder problem and that he should be pretty close to ready to go for the end of training camp and the start of the regular season.

Washington Capitals back-up Philipp Grubauer is believed to be the goalie taking his place, as the German is starting to find his groove in the NHL, having picked up 8 wins in 22 appearances for the Capitals last season and should be the number two again this season, behind Canada's Braden Holtby.
