The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Wednesday that forward David Clarkson has failed his training camp physical and he will not be starting camp on time with his teammates. In a presser today, Jackets President John Davidson advised everyone that the injury that Clarkson is dealing with is in his back and the grizzled veteran has not been able to do much training in the off-season, because of the injury. It is unclear how severe the injury, so forecasting a return is a little difficult, if they are going to forecast a return at all. I would expect him to start the year on the Injured Reserve and with the team only $1.4 million away from the cap ceiling, he might end up on the LTIR for cap relief.
