More injury problems in Carolina, as both Patrick Eaves, a Box 24 forward, and Tim Gleason, a Box 29 defenseman, both missed the game against the Panthers on Monday night. Eaves missed the game with an upper body injury, while Gleason missed the game with a lower body injury. Both players are considered to be out on a day-to-day basis, but neither were very popular in the Sheet pool.
The Avalanche were still without Joe Sakic on Monday night, but they were also without both Wojtek Wolski, a Draft pick of Dale C. and Box 4 forward, and Adam Foote, a non-pool player, against the Ducks. Wolski suffered a head injury over the weekend, but is considered to be out on a day-to-day basis, while Foote was creamed into the end boards in the game against Los Angeles and has suffered a back injury, also out day-to-day. It looks like some tough times ahead for the Avalanche.
With the return of Scott Gomez to the Rangers' line-up, the Rangers were back to scratching two forwards from their line-up, on their somewhat regular rotation. Nigel Dawes, a Box 22 forward, was back in the press box on Monday night, as the Rangers took on the Coyotes. Dawes has 5 points in 19 games for the Rangers, but hasn't seen consistent ice time this season, which should account for his drop in production. You could speculate that Dawes isn't working hard enough for that time either and could be on the block if Mats Sundin is available to them.
The Flyers scratched Box 29 defenseman, Lasse Kukkonen, on Monday night against the Stars. Kukkonen only has 1 point in 11 games for the Flyers and may have fallen out of favour with the coaching staff and could also be on the block if Philly is in the race for Sundin. Kukkonen doesn't seem to have much for pool value now that he's a regular scratch.
The Capitals aren't having much luck lately. Sergei Fedorov sat another game after re-injuring his ankle, which kept him out of the line-up already this year. Fedorov is just going to rest his ankle and test it on a day-to-day basis. Fedorov, a Box 21 forward, has 9 points in 13 games for Washington, but can't seem to get himself back in the line-up at 100%. The Capitals also lost Box 29 defender, Jeff Schultz, to a broken finger against the Wild on Monday night. He is expected to miss at least a couple weeks with the injury. He has 7 assists in 21 games for Washington this season.
