The Ottawa Senators were looking to shake up their roster on Monday night, as both Chris Neil and Christoph Schubert found themselves watching the game from the press box, while Ilya Zubov and Brendan Bell found themselves in the line-up in New York. Neil, a Box 21 forward, hasn't been as productive on offense as the team would like him to be, having only 3 points in 17 games for Ottawa this year. Schubert, a Box 27 defender, only has 3 points in 14 games for the Sens, so some new blood was needed there as well. Sadly, no one could really solve the Rangers, except for the big line and their depth was left scoreless in the loss.
More bad news for the Senators in the game... they had lost Mike Fisher early in the game and wasn't to return with an apparent leg/knee injury. Fisher was trying to enter the Rangers' zone in the first period, but it looked like his leg tweaked awkwardly and he couldn't continue any further. Fisher, a Draft pick of Derek's this season, has been having a very disappointing start to the season, having only 6 points in 16 games for the Sens. More to come on his injury later.
