With the return of Craig Rivet to the line-up on Monday night, the Sabres decided to re-open up his spot by sitting Nathan Paetsch for the game against New Jersey. In 4 games this season for Buffalo, Paetsch has registered 2 assists, but now with the blueline getting healthy again, there is a good chance that Paetsch will either sit more often than not or even be sent down to the minors. He's currently not a wise pick in Box 30 on the Sheet.
There was no word that Rostislav Klesla has encountered any injury problems this week or over the weekend, yet he still sat in Columbus' game against the Islanders on Monday night. Klesla has 3 points (1G, 2A) in 11 games for the Blue Jackets, so it could have been a message that was needed to be sent to kick-start his season. Klesla is a Box 11 defenseman in the pool, one that hasn't been generating much interest this season.
The Hawks are also looking healthier going into Week Six, as they had the ability to sit Craig Adams again last night against the Avalanche. Adams is looking more and more like a depth player, thanks to the emergence of some of the younger players who spent time in the AHL and have now found spots with the big club. There's a good chance that Adams will be the odd man out for a good portion of the season. As a Box 7 forward, he didn't carry much for expectations in the year, but at least he was thought to be somewhat pool worthy. Apparently, I was wrong.
