Avalanche Extend Hejduk

The Avalanche made sure that there isn't going to be any trade speculation surrounding Milan Hejduk come the trade deadline this year. Hejduk signed a 1-year contract extension on Thursday, making sure that he'll be in Denver for one more season. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed with the news release, but it would be fair to assume that he'd be worth about the same against the cap as he will this year, which is $3.9 million.

Last season, Hejduk finished with 27 goals and 32 assists in all 82 games, which is somewhat below par for him, but he will be counted on to lead the team and he'll know that going into the season. The Hockey News predicts that he'll finish with only 55 points this coming year.
