The news came down the wire today that the Flames have released Theoren Fleury from his tryout contract on Friday. Fleury, 41, was re-instated into the NHL from the substance abuse program suspension this summer, in order to tryout for a spot in the NHL. Fleury is an unrestricted free agent, free to sign anywhere, likely on a tryout if anything, but it does seem unlikely that he'll make any waves anywhere else.
This now brings the Flames camp roster down to 27 players, all of which are signed on to the team. Their cap hit remains at $57.5 million, which should be taken care of with the remaining cuts to be made in camp.
The Flames play their final preseason game tomorrow night against Vancouver, afterwards, the final cuts should be made.
