No Staal in Phoenix

In case you were going to try and make a sneaky play for the fourth Staal brother, you may want to hold off for another year. Jared Staal has been sent back down to juniors from the Phoenix Coyotes, putting off his NHL debut for another season. Staal will be heading back to Sudbury of the OHL, where he'll play in his fourth season with the club.

Staal has 42 goals and 62 assists in 190 career games with the Wolves and he took part in five games with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, after his season concluded in Sudbury.

Good work, Sherps! I didn't actually know about Jared being sent down.

Was it an exercise in saving money or is Staal 4.0 not there yet?

I'm pretty sure he's not ready yet. Believe it or not, the 'yotes are fairly deep in young forwards, so why not give him another year in the junior ranks.

As the smallest of the four boys, he might need a little more seasoning before he makes good use of his size.
