The Senators made a couple of transactions today, placing forward/defenseman Christoph Schubert on waivers, in order to send him to the minors and also re-assigning forward Zack Smith to the AHL to start the season.Schubert played in 50 games for the Sens last season, picking up 6 points. He has likely lost his job to one of the younger players in the line-up. Smith did play in a game in 2009 for the Sens, but couldn't quite stick this time around.
Schubert may be an attractive player with a cap hit of only $883,000 for the season on the waiver wire.
These moves leaves 24 players on the Senators' active roster.
