Another good young prospect was cut today, as Zach Boychuk was one of two players to be cut from Hurricanes camp today. Patrick Dwyer was the other player cut from camp.
Boychuk, I thought, had a pretty good shot at making the Hurricanes this season, after having a pretty good year in juniors, but that doesn't seem to be the case. He'll be heading to the AHL, where he could very well be one of the first call-ups, if injuries were to take place on the big club. As it so happens, both players were the last two on the depth chart posted a few days ago.
This now brings the Hurricanes roster down to 25 players and it also brings their cap number below the ceiling at $56.4 million. With two cuts remaining, the Hurricanes should have plenty of wiggle room for another player come the trade deadline, if they happen to be buyers around that time.
