Boyle Out, Demers In

Word out of San Jose is that Dan Boyle is not going to be in the line-up for the Sharks tonight due to an undisclosed injury. He is currently listed as out day-to-day, so whatever the injury is, there is a good chance that Boyle could be back in the line-up over the weekend.

In Boyle's absence, the Sharks have recalled Jason Demers from the AHL to fill his spot. Without Boyle in the line-up, this could definitely open up some more minutes to Demers and some of the other Sharks blueliners, especially on the power play.

ImplicationsA switch in blueliners in the Draft see's Stuart's defenseman, Boyle, come out of the line-up and Clayton's, Demers, go in. Stuart is currently chasing Clayton from the 11th spot in the standings, where Clayton sits in 8th. This will only help Clayton's chances of climbing back into the money position if this injury holds on.

On the Sheet, Boyle was taken five times this season. He certainly wasn't the most popular player in Box 10, but he is one of the most productive. Boyle ranks 2nd in the box with 43 points, only 2 behind Duncan Keith of the Blackhawks.

Demers was not high enough on the depth chart to make the Sheet this year.
