The Penguins were without Sergei Gonchar again on Saturday night against the Lightning after he blocked a shot with his foot in the week and left his foot bruised and battered. The offensive defenseman is currently listed as out day-to-day, which probably suggests that he is waiting for the swelling to go down in his foot, which could mean another game out of the line-up or so.
This season, Gonchar has 5 goals and 18 assists in 29 games, after battling an injury in the early part of the season as well. This injury shouldn't limit his time too badly, so he can get back to getting back to his scoring pace.
In the Draft, Gonchar is a part of Stuart's team this season and Stuart has the 2nd best defensive squad in the pool this year, despite Gonchar missing a good number of games this year. Unfortunately for Stu, the forwards and goaltenders on his team don't share the same compliment, which is why he sits in 13th position in the pool.
On the Sheet, the early injury really hurt Gonchar's support in the pool, keeping only two selections to his name. Gonchar's 23 points only ranks him in the middle of the box, falling further behind of both Mike Green and Tomas Kaberle this season.
