The Predators announced the signing of German forward, Marcel Goc, to a 1-year contract extension on Wednesday. The deal is reportedly worth $775,000 and will keep the 26-year old from hitting unrestricted free agency this summer.
In 49 games this season, Goc has 10 goals and 9 assists, he's a +7 and is over 51% in the face-off circle for the Predators. Goc fills in more of a third line role and has done it well enough to draw another year from his NHL club, with a raise no less.
In terms of cap management for 2011, the Predators are in pretty good shape, here in late-January, having 15 players already signed on for a cap hit of $37.4 million. The Predators will have their share of free agents this summer, so locking up the easy ones will give them more time to work with some of the star players.
