The word in Anaheim is that they will be without Saku Koivu for the next week or two with a sprained knee. Koivu left Thursday night's game against the Kings, not playing in the third period at all. The initial thought was that Koivu's injury was much more serious, but when word came out of the Ducks organization, one or two weeks away from the team doesn't seem so bad. The Ducks start their time without Koivu on Sunday, as they are home to the Flames.
In 42 games with the Ducks, Koivu has 10 goals and 19 assists this season, but has had difficulties with staying healthy throughout the year. Koivu has had some pretty good chemistry this season with Bobby Ryan and Dan Sexton, so when he returns from this minor knee problem, he will likely link up with those two again.
Koivu is a forward on John B.'s Draft team this year, which has had it's fair share of difficulties through the season. John currently ranks 15th in the standings and doesn't have much of a chance to even hit the top ten in the end.
Koivu ended up being the most popular pick in Box 6 this year, he has nine selections in the pool. The injury does seem to be minor, so I don't think too many should rush to make a trade based on the injury. However, his point total isn't very hot in the box, trailing Dustin Penner, Joel Ward, Antoine Vermette and James Neal.
