Well, in case you were going to take him in your pool (but I don't see why you would), Derian Hatcher is reportedly going to start the season on the Long Term Injury Reserve. Apparently, Hatcher is suffering from a knee injury that will keep him out of camp and likely through the better part of the season.
This is newsworthy, as it does now open up a new spot for one of the younger Flyers to take on a full-time role with the team, including someone like Ryan Parent. The other 'silver lining' portion of this newsbite is that the Flyers will now open up $3 to $3.5 million (depending on length of injury time missed) in cap space. A much needed piece of accounting in Philadelphia at the moment.
