The Ducks had to make a move for salary cap reasons and it saw
Bobby Ryan (Box 9 on the Selection Sheet) cut from the roster, as he is one of the few players that don't have to clear waivers and makes over $1 million. Ryan, who was almost a lock to make the roster this year, was a casualty of a stale market for players, as GM Brian Burke couldn't move anyone else to make enough room for the remainder of the roster. More cuts will be coming, as the Ducks need to make two more demotions before their season starts.
