Reports are seeing Jaroslav Spacek signing a new deal with the Canadiens, helping them fill some voids on the blueline. Spacek has signed a 3-year deal worth $11.5 million. Spacek hasn't always been known as a big time defenseman, but he did put up some good numbers in 2009, earning him this deal today.
Spacek had 45 points (8G, 37A) in 80 GP for the Sabres in 2009.
The Habs also decided to add a little more depth to their blueline by signing veteran defender Hal Gill, who just left the Stanley Cup Champs, the Penguins. Gill signed a 2-year deal worth $4.5 million in total.
Gill finished the 2009 season in Pittsburgh with 10 points (2G, 8A) in 62 GP.
