The Lightning have signed Matt Walker to a 4-year, $6.8 million deal on Wednesday. That is an annual cap hit of $1.7 million. Walker is the second defenseman added to the Lightning roster on free agent frenzy day, as Mattias Ohlund was also added to the mix. The revamped blueline is starting to really come together in Tampa Bay.
In 65 games for the Blackhawks, Walker picked up a goal and 13 assists, ranking him 505th in pool scoring. He was ranked 130th among defensemen, so he'd be a deep draft kind of player.
The cap hit of $1.7 million now brings the Lightning's total up to $41.4 million for 14 players.
