The Maple Leafs made a huge splash in the Northeast Division by signing Mike Komisarek, the former Canadiens blueliner, to a 5-year deal worth $22.5 million, an average salary of $4.5 million. The Leafs have done well to make their blueline much bigger, including their trade just prior to this signing. In 2009, Komisarek had a bit of trouble staying healthy, playing only 66 games in Montreal. In those 66 games, Komisarek had 2 goals and 9 assists, which is awfully low for $4.5 million per season, but he does bring his huge size and good defensive strength for his value.
