Leafs made their first splash in the free agent pool with the signing of tough guy forward, Colton Orr, to a 4-year deal worth $4 million in total. Orr isn't much for scoring in the league, picking up a goal and four assists in 82 games for the Rangers, but he did finish third in penalty minutes, which is a good thing, if your fantasy pool keeps points for minutes in the box. This is a minor signing, but still somewhat important to the Brian Burke mould.
This now gives the Maple Leafs 17 players on their roster at a going rate of $39.8 million against the cap (rounded up). The Leafs have lots of room to go out and attract some talent, especially if they want to reach the cap floor.
