The Penguins have added a new back-up for Marc-Andre Fleury by signing Brent Johnson to a new 1-year deal on Tuesday. Johnson will replace Mathieu Garon, who signed in Columbus this summer, as the number two guy in Pittsburgh, after being bumped out of the top two in Washington.
Johnson did get some playing time in Washington in 2009, winning 12 games and adding an assist for 25 pool points. He was ranked 44th among all goaltenders for pool points, which should be about where he'll rank this year, as Fleury will get the bulk of the minutes this season.
A team update will be posted for the Penguins in the next couple days.
