Pilar Acquired Off the Wire

The Chicago Blackhawks made a move on Thursday by picking up defenseman Karel Pilar from the waiver wire. Pilar was being sent down by the Atlanta Thrashers after failing to make the big club in training camp, but due to his career circumstances, Pilar had to clear waivers before he could join the AHL club. The Blackhawks may have themselves another anchor on a young blueline, but even Pilar seems to be a bit of a longshot to make the Blackhawks for a full-time job.
