On Sunday, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced the invitations for a couple of forwards, 27-year old James Sheppard and 30-year old Antti Pihlstrom, both expected to be in Columbus in the next couple weeks to compete for spots for the upcoming season.
Sheppard is the biggest draw of the two, having ranked 434th in overall scoring last season with 18 points in 71 games with New York, he currently ranks as the 2nd-highest scorer invited to a camp at this point of the Summer.
The Jackets appear to have a fairly solid top nine in their forward ranks, but there are still some wild cards in Gregory Campbell, Rene Bourque and/or Jared Boll, who could fall out of the 4th line duties, with a poor training camp.
When we're talking about 4th line players, we're not exactly chatting about the hockey pool types, so this might not be the most interesting or relevant post on here to date.
