Scottie Upshall is only a year removed from being relevant in the hockey pool world, as he picked up 37 points in the 2014 season with the Panthers, but he couldn't follow that up in the 2015 season, only scoring 15 points in 63 games played, falling out of favour with the poolies and Panthers alike.
Enter the St. Louis Blues, who already added a number of players to their training camp roster, including Scott Gomez, so they're trying to find that cheap source of depth for the coming season, hence asking Upshall to join.
The Blues will at least keep their training camp competitive, which can only push some of those fringe players to be better and that could certainly improve their depth in the long run. It will be interesting to see if any of these invites make the cut and earn a deal.
