The Tampa Bay Lightning crease has been under the microscope a little, when Andrei Vasilevskiy underwent vascular surgery to repair a blood clot and rumblings about Ben Bishop's groin muscle not being quite ready, that the Bolts would be looking at some veteran options on the free agent market.
Indeed, that is the case, as they have invited veteran netminder Ray Emery to camp, as he is one of the few unrestricted free agent goalies with a reasonable amount of experience this time around.
Last season, Emery appeared in 31 games for the Flyers, in behind Steve Mason, winning 10 games for 20 points in the hockey pool rankings. At 32 years old, he should still have plenty of life left in his legs, but the Flyers obviously opted to go in a different direction behind Mason, hence his free agency availability.
If Bishop is indeed healthy, by the time training camp, the preseason or the regular season comes around, this might not be the biggest news, but Emery could at least show his stuff and help himself out, getting back to the bigs.
