Off-Season Surgeries (Sep 8)
I'm not 100% certain that anyone was really going to go after a kid like Brett Ritchie at the draft, but he was getting some decent projections out of a couple of publications, expecting him to finally make the jump with Dallas this season. However, with an off-season training injury to his wrist, the 22-year old forward has to undergo surgery to repair some tendons, which will now keep him out of the lineup for upwards of four months.
Last season, Ritchie was good enough for 9 points in 31 games for the Stars and he saw some projections of upwards of 27 points, which could have him as a fringe player, but sadly, not a rookie, having outplayed his eligibility for the title.
Stay away from Ritchie, come draft day. Maybe check back at the Waiver Draft, if you're desperate for a forward to help solidify your roster.
