The Washington Capitals may have come away as 1-0 winners over the Detroit Red Wings last night, but it sounds like that win came at a pretty steep cost, as the injury report dropped and it isn't very pretty.
The Capitals announced that forward T.J. Oshie will be week-to-week with an upper-body injury and they also announced that forward Lars Eller would be day-to-day, also with an upper-body injury. Andre Burakovsky also left the game with an upper-body injury, but there was no immediate update on his condition on Saturday morning.
Oshie's ice-time in the 3rd period was a tad sporadic and he only had one shift after the go-ahead goal, so it may have been an injury suffered late in the final frame. Either way, it doesn't sound like a good timetable, one that is certainly concerning for one of the team's better players to start the season.
Eller was knocked out the game after his first shift in the game and didn't return. The day-to-day update is a positive one and the Capitals have a pretty quick turnaround, as they play on Sunday afternoon, at home to the Blue Jackets.
For Burakovsky, I suppose we're waiting to hear more from the team about his condition. He was hurt a little later on in the 1st period against the Red Wings, also unable to return. He'll be day-to-day, until otherwise listed by the club.
The loss of both Oshie and Eller falls on Marcie's team, while Burakovsky was a loss for Stacey C. on Friday night. The week-to-week loss for Marcie is definitely significant, as her team has been carried this week by Oshie and his 4 points, as her team sits in 8th on Saturday morning, 17 points out of the money. Stacey C. doesn't need to lose a body right about now, as his proxy team is currently leading the way to the basement with only 6 points in the week. His team has dropped from 5th to 11th with his tough week and it only gets tougher.
