The Philadelphia Flyers are expecting to send Shayne Gostisbehere to the press box for a night off on Thursday night, when they take on the Jets. Gostisbehere hasn't been playing with too much consistency of late, but it isn't like he hasn't been scoring, 3 goals and 10 points in 17 games, but it isn't the scoring rate of the season previous. A night off will be used as a learning tool moving forward and he should be back in the lineup on Saturday afternoon.
Gostisbehere was Clayton's 2nd round pick, but hasn't exactly been putting up the points of a top scoring defenseman, like his projections would have suggested he would. There's still plenty of time in the season, but Clayton could really use a boost in his game, as his team will open Thursday night in 16th, 20 points out of the money.
The Colorado Avalanche have announced that they will be without their captain, forward Gabriel Landeskog for their game in Dallas tonight. The Swedish power forward is nursing a lower-body injury and he is currently considered as out day-to-day. In 15 games this season, Landeskog has 4 goals and 8 points this season, taking a reasonable chunk of offense out of the lineup for this game.
When your team is on top, everyone down below is looking for ways to knock you back down. For Brian, the injury bug is starting to nibble and it becomes rather noticeable after how quickly he moved up the standings. Will this injury be enough to take him down a peg or two?
