Well, it was going to happen eventually, but seven weeks into the season was running a little bit long for the Buffalo Sabres, I'm sure. Forward Jack Eichel has been given the green light to go ahead, coming off of a high ankle sprain, and he will be in the lineup tonight, as the Buffalo Sabres visit the Ottawa Senators. The preseason injury has cost the top prospect a good number of games, but now it is about getting his legs underneath him and his name back on the scoresheet.
Kristy & Don will open Tuesday night in 20th place, 29 points out of the money. Getting Eichel back will be very close to getting Jeff Carter in last year's Waiver Draft, so it should be a very huge positive for their team. How quickly will Eichel get into form will certainly determine how fast the duo move up the standings.
Also officially activated from the Injured Reserve on Tuesday is Winnipeg forward Bryan Little, who has been out since the middle of October with a lower-body injury. Little only managed to play in one game this season, before getting hurt, and in that game he had registered an assist, so his scoring rate is right up there, with such a small sample size. The Jets will certainly be happy to have him back, when they take on the Devils at home tonight.
For Grant, I'm sure he was waiting on this good news, before making his opening round pick, as he has held us all back, thus far. His team is another one that is taking a long look at the PIM pool, I'm sure, as his team is 3rd in that race and is well back in the overall race.
