Goalie Announcements (Oct 22)
Welcome to Week Four everyone!
Only four games on the schedule tonight and not very many different hockey pool teams are getting action. Let's see who is going to benefit from tonight's games, I guess. I sure as hell know that it isn't me.
Semyon Varlamov (Wilton) versus Brian Elliott (Jeremy)
Both Wilton and Jeremy will be looking to advance in the goalie survivor pool with starts tonight in Philadelphia. The Avalanche are in to take on the Flyers and the goalie match-up will be the number ones, Semyon Varlamov and Brian Elliott.
Jimmy Howard (Tony) versus Petr Mrazek (Stacey C.)
The Carolina Hurricanes will be donning their black alternate jerseys tonight with the Detroit Red Wings in for a visit. Stacey C. will get the starting goalie on the home side, as his team continues to operate in what would be in the goalie survivor pool, if it landed on the wheel, while Tony's team didn't quite make it out of Week One and it seems like a huge stretch to ask for a Detroit goalie for a win these days.
Jake Allen (Steve) versus Connor Hellebuyck (Jeremy)
Big Central Division clash in Winnipeg tonight, which sees the Blues take on the Jets and although neither team was confirmed this afternoon, it should be the number ones going at it again. That would mean Steve would get his only start of the night with Jake Allen, while Jeremy gets a second start with Connor Hellebuyck tonight. Steve's team didn't make it out of Week One in the goalie survivor and Jeremy gets a second chance to qualify on Monday, which isn't half bad.
Braden Holtby (Stacey C.) versus Anders Nilsson (N/A)
Finally, the Capitals are in Vancouver for the late game tonight and it sounds like Stacey C. will have his second start of the night with the visiting keeper, Braden Holtby, while the Canucks are going to go back to Anders Nilsson and keeping a start away from the hockey pool. The wealth of starts just doesn't seem to be shared equally among those in the pool today.
