Sens Suffering Injury Troubles
Waking up on Friday morning to the news that the Ottawa Senators placed three players on the Injured Reserve and recalling a pair to fill in the gaps came as quite a shock and it's really pouring salt into the wound of a team that has lost its last two games. Among those placed on the IR was pool forward Ryan Dzingel, who is going down with a lower-body injury. There wasn't much detail, in regards to the nature of the injury or his timetable for a return, but what we do know is that he will be out at least a week, before he is eligible to return.
Defenseman Cody Ceci and rookie forward Alex Formenton were the other two players placed on the IR, while forward Nick Paul and defenseman Christian Jaros were recalled to take their place.
Eric's team has yet to really take off this season, dropping down a few places to 18th this week with only 11 points through Thursday night's action and the loss of Dzingel is not going to help. The Ottawa forward has been good for him already this year, picking up 2 goals and 4 points in the first four games of the season, so taking a point-per-game guy out of the lineup will probably mean a further drop in the standings.
