Kings Put Quick on IR

In a poorly predicted goalie announcement post, it was said that Jonathan Quick was going to be day-to-day with a lower-body injury, keeping him out of tonight's game between the Kings and the Red Wings.  The injury was correct, as the veteran keeper was hurt in practice this weekend, but the extent of the injury was worse than initially thought, as the Kings put the keeper on the Injured Reserve on Sunday, opening up a roster spot to recall Peter Budaj in his spot.

Placement on the IR means that Quick will miss at least a week, but an actual timetable for his return was not posted by the team or in any of the reports after the fact.

Quick has only appeared in one game this week with the Kings, a 3-2 overtime loss, meaning he is still without a point in the early part of this season and that's the way it will stay for at least a week.  Bad news for Derek B.'s team, which was leaning heavy on its goaltending tandem, using the top two picks of the season for the goaltending duo.  Quick was his 2nd round pick, 47th overall, so there are some high expectations for him and the Kings.

Derek's team, with action already underway on Sunday afternoon, was 4 points clear of last place in 23rd, already 16 points back of 1st place.
