Panthers Place Luongo on IR Too

It's a bad day for the veteran players in the league, as Roberto Luongo makes three players placed on the Injured Reserve, but the first one on the day that didn't see his injury come in practice.  No, Luongo was hurt in his team's opening game on Saturday night against the Lightning, suffering a lower-body injury when his teammate Frank Vatrano landed on his leg in a scrambled play around his crease.

Luongo only managed to play in 32 minutes of the game in his first start of the year, not getting a decision in the loss and he will now sit out of the lineup for at least a week and Michael Hutchinson has been recalled to be the backup behind James Reimer.

This is not good news for John P., who has been having decent start to the season, sitting in the top 10, with play already underway on Sunday.  John's team has now lost their 5th round draft pick in Luongo, but has done well, despite him only getting one start and half a game worth of action.  If his team can weather the storm without Luongo, a quick return would go a long way to staying in the race.
