Goalie Announcements (Oct 8)

Happy holiday Monday to one and all!  We've got some matinee hockey going on today, so we've pounded out an early goalie announcement post, so here's hoping that we're all going to be accurate around here.

It's a bit of a late start for me, as this post will drop after the 11am MT games have started, but I digress.  That first audit and Newsletter of the year took a bit of time and I slept in too, so sue me.

Mike Condon (N/A) versus Tuukka Rask (Jesse)
It wasn't one of the most ceremonious starts for Tuukka Rask, opening up the Bruins' season with a yank against the Capitals, but he gets a chance at redemption against the Senators in a Columbus Day matinee game at the Garden.  Jesse was certainly expecting bigger things, but a win today could see his season improve upon his 12th place start.

At the other end, non-pool starter Mike Condon gets the nod for the Senators.

Martin Jones (Brenda & Seward) versus Robin Lehner (Chelsea)
In the other matinee game on this Columbus Day in the US, sees the Sharks out east to take on the Islanders and they will be doing so at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  Brenda & Seward look to see their team bounce back from a poor start in Week One with an early Week Two win from San Jose's Martin Jones, while Chelsea is hoping her team keeps up the good vibes with a Robin Lehner win at home for the Islanders.

Marc-Andre Fleury (Troy) versus Carter Hutton (Wes)
It's a 1pm MT start in Buffalo today, when the Golden Knights come to upstate New York to take on the Sabres in an afternoon showing here as well.  Carter Hutton was confirmed as the Sabres' starter as this post was being written and it's still up in the air for who will start for the Golden Knights, but it seems like a good bet that Marc-Andre Fleury would get the nod.

Troy's team opens the week at 18 points, while Wes opens up at 15 points, 14th and 19th place, respectively.

Jimmy Howard (Tony) versus John Gibson (Kristy & Don)
It's the Anaheim Ducks' home opener tonight at the Duck Pond and they will start their 25th anniversary season with the start of some flashback jerseys in warmups, the Ducks going with their inaugural jerseys, ahead of their game against the Red Wings and I'm sure they will look pretty sharp rolling around the ice before puck drop.

Yesterday, I thought it was going to be Jimmy Howard for the Red Wings against the Kings... it wasn't.  That would suggest that it would be him against the Ducks and even though it's unconfirmed, I would say the 4-2 loss last night salted that away.  For the Ducks, look for John Gibson to get another start, and he'll look sharp in the new alternate jerseys that the Ducks will don after warm-up.
