Goalie Announcements (Oct 9)

It's the first Tuesday of the regular season, which would make a whole week since the season started and we're really into the swing of things now.  Two teams have jumped out to a sizable lead within a week and now it's the rest of the team's jobs to try and track them down.

It's a quiet Tuesday, by the schedule's regular standards, but there is still some sorting out to do, as teams are still getting their feet settled back on the ice.

Aaron Dell (Troy) versus Brian Elliott (Jeremy)
The San Jose Sharks are on the second half of back-to-backs tonight in Philadelphia, their eastern road swing continuing on Tuesday night.  It looks like Aaron Dell should be getting his first start of the season, while the Flyers are not exactly going to roll out the welcome mat, sending Brian Elliott to the crease.

Troy hasn't had much success from the crease, only 3 points from three starts, but Dell gets his first look, so maybe the tide will change for him in this early game.  Jeremy gets his first start of the night from the home side and his goaltending has been on par with Troy's registering 4 points in four starts.  Something will have to give.

Jacob Markstrom (Chelsea) versus Curtis McElhinney (N/A)
Maybe dropping Curtis McElhinney wasn't the best idea, as he will be getting his second start in Carolina, as the Hurricanes will welcome the Canucks, who have just started a road trip out east.  For the traveling Canucks, Jacob Markstrom will get the nod again, giving Chelsea her second start of the week.  Her team has been off to a good start, as it opens up Tuesday's action in 4th place, 8 points back of the lead.

Philipp Grubauer (Jesse) versus Sergei Bobrovsky (Kristy & Don)
The Colorado Avalanche will be giving Philipp Grubauer his Avalanche debut on Tuesday night, when they head into Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets.  Jesse's team gets its 3rd start of the season from the crease as well, as it chases down the money spots today.  Jesse's goalie should be taking on a goalie from the number one team in the pool, belonging to Kristy & Don, which is Sergei Bobrovsky.  This could be a very good game to watch, if you've got Centre Ice or Rogers NHL Live.

Mike Smith (Brian) versus Pekka Rinne (John P.)
The Flames are in Nashville to take on the Predators on the first of a road trip down in the US southeast and it should be a top brass match-up in net, as Mike Smith has been confirmed for the Flames, while all signs point to Pekka Rinne getting the nod for the home side.

3 points separates the two pool teams mentioned in this NHL match-up, as John P. holds a slight lead over Brian's team, but John is 11 points back of 1st place, which they are both obviously chasing at the moment.

Jack Campbell (N/A) versus Connor Hellebuyck (Jeremy)
The Winnipeg Jets will play host to the starter-less Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, but Jack Campbell did step into his relief role with his 1st career win on the weekend, so he should be riding into the 'peg with some confidence in his game.  The Jets, on the other hand, are going right back to their number one goalie, Connor Hellebuyck, giving Jeremy another start tonight.  Jeremy's team currently sits in 3rd place, 7 points behind 2nd and 8 points behind 1st.  Hellebuyck has been tasked with the job of getting those big points, as a 1st round pick.

Frederik Andersen (Derek B.) versus Ben Bishop (Clayton)
Two red hot teams clash in Dallas tonight, as the Maple Leafs are in to visit the Stars and both sides are firing on all cylinders offensively, meaning it will be quite the challenge for the goaltenders in this one.  Frederik Andersen will give Derek's 23rd place team a key start, as it tries to climb its way back up the standings, while Ben Bishop gives Clayton his only start of the night, with his team in 5th place, 9 points out of 1st.
