More horrible injury news for Colorado, as they have now lost their number one forward, Paul Statsny, to a broken forearm, which he suffered on Tuesday night against the Coyotes. This couldn't come at a worse time for the Avalanche, who are already without Joe Sakic and Marek Svatos to injuries and they are in a fight to stay in the playoff hunt in the Northwest Division.
Statsny, a Dale B. Draft pick this season, took over the leadership role for the team as the number one offensive force and has 31 points (10G, 21A) in 34 games for the Avalanche, which is a little off his pace from last season, but he'll have to wait at least a few weeks before he can start getting himself back into game shape to continue his season. It is quite likely that Statsny will be missing upwards of six weeks with the injury, but you never know if he's a quick healer or not.
