The Blue Jackets have learned that they will be without forward Derrick Brassard for up to four weeks after suffering a separated shoulder in the game against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. The hot rookie has been ripping the league this season and was an attractive commodity during the Waiver Draft, as he was taken by Don.
Brassard has 10 goals and 15 assists this season with the Blue Jackets in only 31 games. It's unclear how this injury will impact his chances at winning the Calder Trophy, as his numbers should be good enough, if he was to continue for 80+ games at this pace.
Since coming on board with Don, Brassard has played in 9 games, scoring 2 goals and 4 assists. The pick-up was helping Don distance himself from the bottom two teams in the Draft and will now have to hope for a speedy recovery.
