The Avalanche received some bad news on Wednesday, as it looks like Joe Sakic's sore back is more like a herniated disc, which will keep him out of the line-up for at least six weeks, possibly more. This is definitely unappealing news for Wes, who has Sakic in the Draft, especially after we have already passed the first Waiver Draft with Sakic passing through on his roster.
Sakic has only played in 15 games this season, scoring 2 goals and adding 10 assists for the Avalanche and now he stands to miss upwards of 19 games in the next six weeks, which will definitely put a dent into Wes' fantasy performance.
Hopefully Sakic can get better to continue his Hall of Fame career and reach some of his own personal milestones. It will be tough for the Avalanche to gauge their prospects without Sakic in the line-up, as they have a pretty anemic offense as it is. Their playoff hopes rest on this stretch without Sakic. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Avalanche are only 2 points out of a playoff spot in 10th place in the Western Confernece.
