The Canucks received some bad news after announcing some great news earlier this week, as Sami Salo has been put on the Injured Reserve with a broken rib. The injury was sustained in their win against Edmonton on Wednesday and it looks like it will keep him out of the line-up for four weeks. This will mean that Salo won't be around for Mats Sundin's debut with the team.
Salo, a Draft pick of Clayton's and a Box 10 defenseman, has been on and off the shelf a couple times already this season. He has managed to play in 25 games this season and has 10 points (2G, 8A). It's tough to get any consistent production when your players are having a tough time staying healthy.
