Blue Jackets goalie, Fredrik Norrena, was placed on waivers yesterday, thanks to the emergence of Steve Mason and as of noon Eastern, he had cleared waivers. Now that Norrena has cleared, he has been assigned to the AHL. The word I'm reading is that if Norrena wishes to skip the AHL and head back to Europe, the organization will allow him that with no resistence. I think to some degree, the Blue Jackets would appreciate having Norrena available to them, just in case of injury for the remainder of the season, although Dan LaCosta has already made a brief appearance in the Columbus net this season and could likely provide that sort of help.
