It was only a week ago when it was reported that Joe Sakic would be missing the next six weeks after a herniated disc was discovered in his back. Well, now... it's not his back that will keep him out and additional seven weeks from now, a total of three months, because he underwent surgery to repair broken bones and tendons in his hand after a snow blower accident.
Sakic, a Draft pick of Wes' this season, had the chance to drop Sakic at the Waiver Draft, but elected to drop two others in the hopes that his injuries wouldn't be too severe. Unfortunately, this injury will take him all the way to the second Waiver Draft.
The Avalanche will miss Sakic, no doubt, but as it was outlined in the Newsletter on Monday, the young players of Colorado are finally bringing their A-game to the table and pulling out some key wins.
