Wednesday Night's Sheet News

The Blue Jackets placed Jason Chimera on the Injured Reserve on Thursday with an undisclosed injury. They expect Chimera to be out of the line-up for about a week with this injury. Chimera left last night's game against the Sharks and was not able to return. It's been a pretty good season, thus far, as he's scored 7 goals and 11 assists in 31 games.

In Florida, it looks like they will be without Stephen Weiss again. Weiss left Sunday's game against Vancouver and didn't return. His diagnosis... a back injury, which will be re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis. This season, the Box 19 forward has 16 points in 26 games for the surging Panthers.

The Flyers are moving steps closer to being completely healthy. On Wednesday, they activated Randy Jones from the Injury Reserve and then sent him down to the Phantoms in the AHL for a conditioning statement. The Box 28 defenseman has yet to dress for the Flyers this season and should hopefully be in the line-up next week.

The Blues have lost Box 13 defenseman, Jay McKee, to a fractured finger and that will keep him out of the line-up indefinitely. McKee blocked a shot earlier in the week to acquire the injury. McKee is also pretty well known on the Injured Reserve, as he's an oft-injured player. McKee has 2 points in 30 games this season.

The Canucks suffered a couple injuries in their win against the Oilers on Wednesday. Both Sami Salo and Shane O'Brien left the game with injuries, Salo with an upper body injury and O'Brien with a leg injury. The Canucks have announced that O'Brien will only be out day-to-day, while Salo's injury has not been completely determined as of yet. Salo, a Box 10 defender and Draft pick of Clayton's, has 10 points in 25 games, while O'Brien, a Box 28 defenseman, has 5 assists in 33 games.
