Lower-Body Injury for Jokinen

The Carolina Hurricanes will be without Jussi Jokinen for the next week or two, after sustaining a lower-body injury in the team's return back from the All-Star break, Tuesday night against Boston.  Jokinen left the game in the 1st period and did not return and further tests have shown a more serious injury.  A couple weeks isn't a very long-term injury, one that likely needs some rest and rehab to get back to 100%.

Jokinen has been a big part of the Hurricanes offense this season, ranking 5th on the team in pool scoring with 38 points (12 goals and 26 assists) in 44 games, also ranking him 68th in pool scoring, going into this week.  His 2011 scoring pace is only slightly down from his 2010 season total and missing out on these next couple weeks likely won't help his cause much.

ImplicationsIn the draft, a couple weeks out of the line-up, likely won't be enough to force Jokinen out of Larry D.'s line-up this week during the waiver draft, but it likely won't help Larry's chances in the standings, as he is only 1 point out of the top 10 and 38 points out of the money.  The real focus for those already too far back will be the third segment prize for the final nine weeks of the season.
