Another brand new contract extension hit before the trades started flying, as the Atlanta Thrashers signed defenseman Mark Stuart to a new 3-year contract extension, reportedly worth $5.1 million, which works out to be a $1.7 million cap hit each season.
Stuart was acquired by the Thrashers in the Wheeler/Peverley deal with the Bruins a few weeks ago and has been a regular in their line-up. In the 2011 season, Stuart has 1 goal and 4 assists in 35 games between Boston and Atlanta this year, not much of a fantasy type player this season.
