A recurring groin problem has given the Predators enough reason to place Steve Sullivan on the Injured Reserve for at least the next week. Sullivan will likely get re-evaluated at the end of his week-long stint on the IR, but this will at least open up a roster spot as he is out of the line-up healing his injury.
With the Predators in the thick of things in the Western Conference playoff race, I would imagine they will try and get Sullivan back as soon as they can, but a week off now makes more sense than a longer-term injury later.
It hasn't been a terribly productive season for Sullivan, who only has 10 goals and 12 assists in 43 games for Nashville this season, scoring at a touch over half a point-per game at the moment, well below some of his better seasons. If he has indeed been playing hurt, then his numbers may prove to be a good reflection of the situation.
Peter H. is Sullivan's keeper in the pool this time around and he currently sits 6 points out of the top 10 in 11th spot overall and currently sits 12th in the third segment, falling further and further behind. The injury situation won't help too much, but I'm not too sure there is much to help here.
