A recurring groin problem has given the Predators enough reason to place Steve Sullivan on the Injured Reserve for at least the next week. Sullivan will likely get re-evaluated at the end of his week-long stint on the IR, but this will at least open up a roster spot as he is out of the line-up healing his injury. With the Predators in the thick of things in the Western Conference playoff race, I would imagine they will try and get Sullivan back as soon as they can, but a week off now makes more sense than a longer-term injury later.
It hasn't been a terribly productive season for Sullivan, who only has 10 goals and 12 assists in 43 games for Nashville this season, scoring at a touch over half a point-per game at the moment, well below some of his better seasons. If he has indeed been playing hurt, then his numbers may prove to be a good reflection of the situation.
Peter H. is Sullivan's keeper in the pool this time around and he currently sits 6 points out of the top 10 in 11th spot overall and currently sits 12th in the third segment, falling further and further behind.
