The addition of Brent Sopel to the blueline and the decision to only carry six defensemen into yesterday's game against Carolina meant that two had to sit for the Canadiens and they were Box 13 defenseman Paul Mara and Box 29 defenseman Alexandre Picard. Both defensemen have been regular healthy scratches all season long, so this shouldn't come as a complete shock to anyone, really.
A lower-body injury has hurt the Penguins offense a little bit more, although you wouldn't have noticed that against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Box 22 forward Tyler Kennedy had to sit out the game with the injury and he missed out on a scoring bonanza in Toronto, one where he may have made a difference in the first 65 minutes of play. Nevertheless, he's currently day-to-day with the injury, until further details are released.
