The Chicago Blackhawks have a situation on their hands, an injury situation regarding their best player this season, Jonathan Toews. Toews left last night's game against the Nashville Predators with an upper-body injury and the speculation is that the injury is a wrist or hand injury. According to a report, the team is off on Sunday and Toews will likely be re-evaluated when they return from a short break on Monday, just to see what the actual damage is. We'll consider him day-to-day for now, but expect an update on Monday afternoon, if anything changes.
Toews has been instrumental in Dale B.'s lift up to the top of the draft pool standings, having 50 points in 49 games and if there is going to be any time missed, this could be some significant points lost. A game or two won't hurt his overall chances to win the pool, but if the injury is much worse, it could be a real problem.
A groin injury has sidelined Colorado Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson and it sounds like this could keep this blueliner out of action until after the All-Star break. Wilson missed out on Saturday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings and the Avalanche play back-to-back against the Ducks on Sunday, so it seems rather doubtful that he will play in that game either. With some added rest next weekend, taking a week off for this injury may be a wise decision. He will be day-to-day, until otherwise noted.
Wilson has been a big disappointment for Benson G. since being a waiver draft pick in Week Nine. Since the selection, Wilson has only managed to play in six games for the Avalanche and his pool team, picking up 1 assist in those games. There's a pretty good chance that he may be dropped for someone new in a week's time.
A very controversial hit on Saturday afternoon forced New York Rangers forward Ryan McDonagh out of the overtime period against the Boston Bruins with an undisclosed injury. McDonagh was hit awkwardly into the boards by Andrew Ference, who received a 5-minute major for charging and a game misconduct, not to mention a scheduled phone hearing with the league, which forced the defenseman out of the game. The Rangers have not disclosed anything new about McDonagh's injury.
More bad news for Wayne H., who probably can't handle too much more, as his team has fallen like a rock over the last five weeks. The pool leader after Week Eleven has now fallen out of the money positions and is continuing to suffer injury problems. If there are more updates on McDonagh's condition, there will likely be an update here.
A couple of injuries on the Coyotes' front to speak about. Daymond Langkow did not dress for the Coyotes after taking a puck to the face on Thursday night, giving him quite the gash on his cheek and it sounds like it kept him out of the game on Saturday night against the Lightning. Consider him day-to-day for right now. Also, in that game against Tampa on Saturday, defenseman Derek Morris left the game with a lower-body injury, but there has been no update on his condition after the fact and there likely won't be any word until Monday. We'll consider him day-to-day as well.
John P. currently sits in 14th spot and he is the one carrying Langkow, so his desire to climb into the top 10 is currently under a small shadow of doubt, but with the second waiver draft coming up, something might happen yet. Darren S. has Morris and his situation hasn't improved since the first waiver draft and he is closing in on being 50 points out of 20th spot.
