The Vancouver Canucks assigned forward Mike Duco back to Chicago of the AHL on Sunday morning, in preparation for the return of forward David Booth to the line-up. Booth has been out for just over a month with a knee injury, which he had suffered at the beginning of December, when he collided in a knee-on-knee hit with the Avalanche's Kevin Porter.
Booth was off to a slow start to the season with the Florida Panthers, before getting dealt to Vancouver, where he was just finding his stride with this new team at the time of the injury. In 25 games played this year between Florida and Vancouver, Booth has 5 goals and 8 assists, now good enough for 349th in pool scoring, down from 211th, where he was when the injury occurred.
This is very good news for Stuart G., who has Booth in the draft this season, as he looks to climb into a money spot in the next week or so. Stuart was in the money at the time of the injury, sitting in 3rd spot, but has since dropped down to 6th place, making gains over the last couple weeks and with the return of Booth, he should be able to find his way back in. Stuart, early on in Sunday's action, sits 4 points out of 5th spot and 6 points out of 4th spot and if Booth can make some immediate returns, this could change the scene in the money right away.
