Sheet Player News (Jan. 10)

It appears that the Carolina Hurricanes will be without Box 22 forward Chad Larose on Tuesday night, as he appeared to have suffered a head injury in practice on Monday after he had hit his head against the net.  The Hurricanes have called up Jerome Samson to take his spot in the line-up, but it is unclear to the team how long Larose will be out for and whether or not he has suffered a concussion.  Of course, there will be some close attention paid to this situation.  Larose has 21 points in 43 games for the Hurricanes, which is about middle of the pack in his box.

It hasn't quite been the best season sophomore season for Minnesota Wild defenseman Marco Scandella, as his 3 goals and 3 assists in 37 games are somewhat below expectations, likely across the board, between team and poolies.  Scandella showed some offensive prowess at the end of last season, but hasn't quite carried that over into the 2012 season, so the Wild have decided to give him some seasoning, possibly gain some of that confidence back, with a stint in the AHL.  There is no word as to how long the Box 13 defenseman will be down there, but it could be worth his while.
