On Friday, the Nashville Predators sent two selection sheet players down to Milwaukee of the AHL, likely to get some proper ice-time and get their confidence back up. Box 13 defenseman Jonathan Blum and Box 16 goaltender Anders Lindback have not seen much ice in the last few weeks with the big club and there doesn't appear to be any plan to have them play soon, so in order to keep them sharp, a trip down to the minors will give them the minutes they need to be better. The Predators called up goaltender Jeremy Smith to back-up Pekka Rinne, but I would imagine that his minutes will be limited.
Islanders Box 29 defenseman Mike Mottau has not played a game since December 29th and it has been determined that the veteran blueliner has suffered a concussion and he will be out of the line-up indefinitely. He was placed on the Injured Reserve, likely retroactive to the 29th, which means he will be eligible to come off any time, but I don't foresee that being an option for a little while. In 29 games this season, Mottau has 2 assists, so he isn't a viable pool option this year, so I would say avoid him at all costs for the rest of the year.
